LG Electronics USA’s Commercial Air Conditioning division says it has augmented its range of variable refrigerant flow (VRF) solutions with the new LG Dedicated Outdoor Air System (DOAS). The LG DOAS can be used in a multiple settings, meeting the needs of a wide variety of users. It provides dehumidification of outdoor air using LG’s inverter compressor outdoor units. In addition to being seismically certified by California Office of Statewide Planning & Development, this dedicated outdoor air system is designed to provide conditioned outdoor air and maximum energy savings.
This project team left nothing to chance when it came to designing a five-story mixed-space facility for a Chicago gaming company. They also dealt a full hand of space-specific tactics: upgraded DX units, a dedicated variable-speed kitchen exhaust system, underfloor air, and better motors and drives improved the odds for efficiency. Pull the handle on this project story to get to the payoff.
Engineers are rethinking the standard engineering design paradigm, using lifecycle cost analysis (LCCA) to compare system alternatives that fulfill the same functional requirements but differ in terms of initial and operating costs.
Registration for ASHRAE’s upcoming webcast, “Dedicated Outdoor Air Systems – A Path to Balancing Energy and IEQ,” opened March 19. The webcast focuses on the departure from conventional HVAC systems and takes place April 19, 2012, from 1 to 4 p.m. EDT.
