Kohl is senior product manager at Trane Commercial Systems, where he is responsible for sensors and wire-less products. He has over 20 years engineering and marketing experience in industrial ventilation and commer-cial HVAC. He is also a member of the community faculty at Metropolitan State University, where he teaches business-to-business and marketing management.
Leaning on experience and data from various K-12 cities and projects, the author pursues some less conventional design approaches. They may revolve around radiant heating and/or cooling, but depending on school size and other factors, the smart use of heat recovery, DOAS, and improved central plants could also put a project on the HVAC honor roll.
