At a recent roundtable discussion hosted by the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) in partnership withGAMA,U.S. boiler manufacturers who export their products to China voiced an urgent need for reforms in that country's current approval processes. The roundtable, held in Baltimore on January 27, 2005, was a first step in developing a list of short and long-term strategies to address the U.S. boiler industry's concerns. The list identifies a wide range of common industry concerns with China's initial licensing process, including duplicative inspections in the U.S. and China, redundant reporting and other requirements, and a lack of clarity and transparency in the Chinese regulations, among others.
