The oil heat industry will again gather next spring to help those in need with "Care to Ride," a fundraiser to benefit Oil Heat Cares (www.oilheatcares.com). Established in 2004, Oil Heat Cares is a not-for-profit foundation that assists needy persons or organizations with replacement of their heating equipment.

The 2007 Care to Ride event will take place on May 21 in Hershey, PA in conjunction with the National Association of Oil Heating Service Managers convention at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center. The expanded fundraiser will again feature two bike routes and a walking route, plus a motorcycle route that has been newly added. Event chairman Don Farrell said many requests were received to add the motorcycle option and "if we can include more people that way and raise even more money for such a worthy cause, then we're all for it." The courses will take advantage of the beautiful Pennsylvania countryside.

Last year's inaugural ‘Ride' in Hartford, CT was hugely successful, raising over $50,000 for the foundation. Thirty-five corporate sponsors and approximately 70 participants joined in that effort. Oilheating Journal, Peerless Boilers, Sprague Energy, and Burnham Hydronics are already signed-on as "Champion" Level Sponsors of the 2007 event. "Winner" Level Sponsors includes Bradford White, R.W. Beckett, Fuel Merchants of NJ, NAOHSM, New England Fuel Institute, Energy Kinetics, Plumbing & Mechanical, Riello, Cocard, Massachusetts Oilheat Council and Wohler. Farrell is challenging the corporate sponsors and event participants to "step-up and leave last year's number behind."

Each participant or team will be required to make a minimum donation pledge in order to participate. Contact Don Farrell, 973-331-9545, dfarrell@oilheating.com for more details.
