Review the work that engineers and clinicians put into creating an amendment
to the standard for relative humidity in the operating room and other
spaces. The goal was to see whether it was possible to adjust rh
thresholds without affecting patient health, but the associated
potential equipment savings may make facility budget directors feel
the best of all.
Leaning on experience and data from various K-12 cities and projects, the author pursues some less conventional design approaches. They may revolve around radiant heating and/or cooling, but depending on school size and other factors, the smart use of heat recovery, DOAS, and improved central plants could also put a project on the HVAC honor roll.
