The Outdoor NeoTherm is a direct vent, sealed combustion, condensing boiler or volume water heater designed specifically for outdoor installations. Company officials said these systems meet or exceed all applicable ANSI testing demands for outdoor use, and reach thermal efficiencies as high as 97%.
To help chilled water systems reach their efficiency potential, Carrier has further enhanced its ChillerVu™ plant control system to include the new Carrier ChillerVu chilled water system optimizer. The new optimizer extends control efficiencies beyond the chiller plant and improves the efficiency of the entire chilled water system, including AHUs, fan coils, and other chilled water distribution equipment. Based on laboratory and field tests, Carrier officials said adding the optimizer to a building’s chilled water system can yield energy savings in the range of 3% to 15% percent (versus non-optimized systems).
ADEY® introduced the MagnaClean® Professional2XP™, which helps to virtually eliminate iron oxide in hydronic heating systems. According to the company, buildup of this damaging sludge can reduce heat transfer by as much as 15% and reduce boiler efficiency by up to 6% in only three weeks.
Belimo says its butterfly valve range has been expanded to include competitively priced assemblies for applications that require 50 psi close-off pressure. These assemblies are identified by the last digit “U” in the valve body nomenclature.
Lochinvar’s KNIGHT® wall mount fire tube boiler ranges from 55,000 to 399,999 Btuh. Select models provide up to 10:1 turndown, top and bottom water connections, and an upgraded SMART SYSTEM Control®. The refined KNIGHT wall mount fire tube boiler models WHN56-286 offer 95% AFUE while the WHN400 is rated with 94.4% Thermal Efficiency, Low-NOx emissions and a fully modulating burner.
The Ruskin® TDP05K advanced thermal dispersion air measurement system for air flow and temperature measuring averages multiple velocity and temperature points within the duct or plenum. Each airfoil-shaped probe can have up to eight moisture-resistant flex sensors.
Carrier is offering an electronically commutated motor (ECM) direct-drive fan option for the Aero® 39M commercial air handler product line. According to company officials, adding the new ECM fan option enables customers to further improve the system’s energy efficiency. Onboard electronics determine the position of the rotor, which then provides an electronic pulse to actuate the motor windings.
MSA Safety Incorporated has released its Chillgard® VRF Refrigerant Leak Detector with integrated BACNet capability. Designed with MSA’s advanced photoacoustic infrared (PAIR) sensing technology, Chillgard VRF Refrigerant Detectors operate with a stable zero baseline.
Titus has released the TJD, a standard OMNI diffuser designed specifically to address low air volume codes. According to the company, while most air outlets typically work at 100 cfms, the patent pending TJD performs at 20 to 50 cfms and throws air at 50 ft per minute up to 9 ft from the diffuser. The high mixing increases the discharge isovel and its throw, providing uniform temperatures and equally distributed outside air throughout the space.
Cleaver-Brooks has launched the ClearFire®-CE (CFC-E) condensing boiler. The company says the boiler can achieve up to 99% efficiency due to its enhanced AluFer® firetube heat exchanger and dual temperature returns. When utilized, dual temperature returns increase condensing in a hot water boiler, raising efficiency by 6% or more compared to a traditional single-return design, according to officials.
