Dewberry has hired Daniel (Dan) Southwick, P.E., as senior vice president in the firm’s Raleigh, NC, office.

Southwick will be responsible for enhancing and diversifying the firm's telecommunications capabilities, presence, and services throughout the nation. In this role, Southwick will expand upon the firm's 20 years of telecommunications engineering experience by bringing full turnkey solutions to industry clients, including project management, site acquisition, surveying, design, and construction.

Before Dewberry, Southwick was the chief operating officer at Velocitel, an infrastructure engineering firm specializing in wireless communications. He spent six years overseeing full turnkey services and leading the firm’s construction, project management, engineering, site acquisition, and regulatory compliance offerings. He helped grow the long-term evolution (LTE), universal mobile telecommunications systems (UMTS), distributed antenna systems, and small-cell sites of a variety of major multinational telecommunications companies.

Southwick earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the State University of New York (SUNY) Buffalo.
