Research that will provide medical personnel and instrument manufacturers with data and tools to improve cryosurgical probe designs has been approvedASHRAE. The project, Design Data for Optimization of Cryosurgical Probes, is expected to take 18 months to complete at a cost of $92,460. It will include the creation of a computer program that will allow cryosurgical probe design information to be accessed more conveniently. The project, which represents the first ASHRAE research project on the subject of cryogenics, has the potential to expand the uses of cryosurgery in the medical field.
