Howden American Fan Company has announced the availability of a wide range of fan product lines ideal for serving industrial boilers, gas turbine installations, and heat-recovery steam generators in combined cycle installations. Howden says it works closely with OEMs to supply a high-quality industrial product that meets specific air flow and pressure requirements. Also available are start-up and commissioning and after-market service and repairs.

Howden says its experts review such performance criteria as air flow, resistance, temperature, and elevation and make recommendations on the entire fan package, including fan selection, base, and mounting. Automated software assistance is available for entering fan parameters and reviewing available options and costs.

Howden’s direct-drive fans include the industry-standard AF line of cast aluminum medium pressure blowers, nine types of backwardly inclined fans, as well as turbo pressure blowers and industrial exhausters. Also available are dual skid-mounted fan assemblies, including two fans connected to a common diverter damper, all mounted on a common unitary channel sub-base. This choice provides one fan for everyday operation and one fan to serve as a standby.

The company has also designed turbo pressure blowers with an inlet filter silencer as well as an integral damper for flow control. Howden also provides special nondestructive structural integrity testing and certification of the wheel and shaft to ensure the equipment will be long-lasting and stand up to its intended use. The manufacturer also builds fans with housing percentage widths at 5% increments from 60% to 100%. Changing the fan construction so it can handle lower volumes without slowing fan speed eliminates any need for use of a belt drive, which can reduce maintenance costs, said officials.
