The Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (IEST) has released, from ISO Technical Committee 209, ISO FDIS 14644-4 “Cleanrooms and Associated Controlled Environments – Part 4: Design, Construction, and Startup.” IEST serves as Secretariat for ISO T/C 209 which developed the document as a part of a series of 11 documents to serve the needs of the global contamination control community.

ISO/FDIS 14644-4 specifies requirements for the design and construction of cleanroom facilities. A checklist of performance parameters is provided for purchases, suppliers, and designers of these structures, the document’s intended audience. Included are construction guidance and requirements for startup and qualification. It also identifies the basic elements of design and construction which are needed to ensure satisfactory operation and maintenance.
