The FireMaster® Fast Wrap™ system is a lightweight, single-layer, foil-encapsulated duct insulation that meets UL 1978, UL 723 and NFPA 96 standards, and is an alternative to a 2-hr fire resistive rated shaft enclosure. The wrap can be installed with a 6 in. overlap technique, or a joint and collar technique, designed to reduce installation time. The system can be used with zero clearance to combustible surfaces at the collar or overwrap, and provides fire protection without metal stud and multilayer gypsum construction, says the company.
