The Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute(ARI) has announced the appointment ofWilliam G. Suttonas president of the internationally known trade association that represents manufacturers of more than 90% of North American produced central air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment.

Sutton retired from the U.S. Navy last year with the rank of rear admiral after a diverse and highly successful 30-year career. His background includes six CEO/COO-equivalent assignments and significant experience in inter-agency relations, legislative liaison, educational administration, strategic planning, marketing and infrastructure management. On January 1, 2002, Sutton will replace Clifford H. "Ted" Rees, Jr.,/b>, who is retiring after eight years as president of ARI.
