Belimo has released new larger sizes of inline flow sensors, 2.5 inch to 6 inch, that offer automatic glycol measurement and compensation for optimal system performance. Belimo officials said the flow sensors utilize ultrasonic technology with glycol compensation to provide accurate and repeatable flow measurements of water and water/glycol mixtures without drift in any HVAC application.
Dwyer Instruments has released its Humidity/Temperature Transmitter Series RHPLC. The Series RHPLC is ideal for monitoring humidity and temperature levels for many building automation applications such as room comfort monitoring for schools, offices, or hospitals.
Extech Instruments has launched new environmental meters optimized for HVACR and IAQ professionals. The series includes an airflow meter, a combination hygro-thermometer and psychrometer, and a 10-in-1 multifunction meter. The company says the new compact instruments are designed to provide quick and accurate readings on a range of environmental conditions that are essential for HVACR troubleshooting and repairs, as well as IAQ assessments to improve occupant health and comfort.
Mitsubishi Electric recently introduced its CITY MULTI® ceiling cassette indoor unit, featuring the new 3D i-see Sensor™. The 3D i-see Sensor is a small component mounted to the exterior panel of the ceiling cassette. The sensor continuously analyzes the thermal profile of a room, identifying cool and warm spots. To achieve an accurate thermal profile, it performs hundreds of circular scans, with multiple points per scan, continuously monitoring.
Belimo Americas has released an advanced butterfly valve designed specifically for the HVAC industry. The company says its newly designed butterfly valve and PR actuator assembly was developed with a focus on ease of installation, application flexibility, and longevity.
The new Fluke Connect®-enabled 370 FC Series Clamp Meters log measurements to pinpoint intermittent faults precisely without the need for the technician to be present. Those measurements are then wirelessly transmitted to the Fluke Connect app on smartphones or tablets and automatically uploaded to the cloud, keeping technicians outside the arc flash zone and away from dangerous moving machinery.
Continental Fan Manufacturing says its new IRIS Damper is a simple solution for fast and exact measurement, balance, and control of airflow. It is ideal for supply and exhaust tracking control, individual comfort control, and any space requiring accurate airflow regulation. Applications for the IRIS damper include office buildings, pharmaceuticals, clean room environments, and laboratories.
In the summer of 2014 the United Association (UA) started a new course to teach their membership the use of laser scanning equipment and related software to create highly accurate three-dimensional point clouds of existing buildings and mechanical systems for the use with BIM applications. Pat Ramirez and Erik Lambrecht were tasked to create the new course which lead to a partnership with FARO.
