- "Radiant house" to heat up expo floor
AHR Expo will be hosting a "Radiant House" with installation demonstrations during the 2006 AHR Expo at McCormick Place in Chicago.
Designed to provide attendees with the latest information on energy-efficient products, the event, which will be held on the show floor from January 23-25, 2006, will feature a wood frame structure in which various radiant heating suppliers will give live demonstrations of their products being installed. Installations in the Radiant House will include radiant floor tubing, electric elements, pre-manufactured floor and wall panels, ceiling installations, insulation, controls and more. A complete list of companies showcasing their products, and installation, with a schedule of demonstrations, will be displayed at the house on the show floor.
- New endorsing associations get behind event
The Building Performance Institute (BPI), the Testing, Adjusting and Balancing Bureau (TABB), and the Association for Facilities Engineering (AFE) recently joined with other leading associations to endorse the 2006 AHR Expo.
BPI is an independent third-party provider of building science-based certification and accreditation credentials for individuals and firms involved in the delivery of building performance improvement. TABB has 2,500 members and was developed by the National Energy Management Institute Committee (NEMIC), a not-for-profit corporation sponsored by the Sheet Metal Workers' International Association (SMWIA) and the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association (SMACNA). The organization's mission is to ensure the welfare of the general public, engineers, building owners, design professionals, and contractors to assure that all building environmental systems are installed properly and all systems are adjusted to precise design specifications.
AFE is comprised of both company and individual members totaling 5,000 including international members, and provides education, certification, technical information, and other relevant resources for plant and facility engineering, operations and maintenance professionals worldwide.
- 2007 and 2008 host cities announced
The Lone Star State and The Big Apple will be the next locations for the AHR Expo. The International Exposition Company (IEC) has announced that Dallas and New York have been selected as the host cities for the AHR Expo 2007 and 2008, respectively. These venues were selected in collaboration with ASHRAE and ARI on the basis of their accessibility by exhibitors and attendees, size of the regional, industrial, residential and commercial markets, and concentration of HVACR professionals and suppliers.
"As we considered prospective cities for the AHR Expo 2007 and 2008, it became very clear to us that New York and Dallas were excellent venues for our exhibitors and attendees," said Clay Stevens, president of IEC. "Both New York and Dallas have been hosts to very successful AHR Expos in the past but it has been several years since we were in either city."
Show organizers have chosen the Dallas Convention Center in Dallas as the site for the AHR Expo 2007, to be held January 29 through January 31. At the center of the largest market for HVACR products in North America, New York will attract a huge number of attendees and exhibitors to the Javits Convention Center, from January 22-24, 2008 who may not have attended recent shows. This will mark the first time AHR Expo has returned to New York since 1991, although recent Northeastern shows were held in Atlantic City and Philadelphia and turned out to be two of the largest and most successful events in the show's history.
