Peabody Engineering, (Shelton, CT) a division of Hamworthy Combustion Engineering Group, recently entered into an agreement with Gas Technology Institute (GTI) to develop a multi-fuel ultra-low NOx burner, based on the patented GTI Forced Internal Recirculation (FIR) ultra-low NOx natural gas burner. The new burner will target the steel industry and will be designed to fire a variety of fuels, including natural gas, coke oven gas, blast furnace gas and fuel oil, at NOx levels below 10 ppm while burning natural gas and less than 20 ppm using coke oven gas.
