Leaders of the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) issued a letter to the leadership of the House and Senate energy committees seeking support for legislation (H.R. 7962/S. 4061) that would amend the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA) to clarify the definitions of residential and commercial water heaters.
“Having survived multiple hurricanes during our company’s history, the devastation from this pandemic has been far worse," testified Carlos A. Penin, P.E., president, CAP Engineering in Coral Gables, Florida.
“NABTU applauds Speaker Pelosi for moving forward this long-awaited, and desperately-needed infrastructure agenda," said Sean McVarvey, president, North America's Building Trades Unions (NABTU). "We commend the commitment to local prevailing wage rates and those who demonstrated that infrastructure is not a partisan issue or political issue, but an American issue with broad support, and a policy we should advance to strengthen us globally."
According to AHRI, HR 5544 would bring about a phasedown of a class of refrigerants known as hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and allow for a market- and consumer-friendly transition to new and better performing refrigerants and related products and equipment.
