For new residential and light commercial central air conditioning equipment, the AHRI petition seeks a regulation requiring that equipment manufacturers use refrigerants with a global warming potential (GWP) of 750 or less in equipment made after Jan. 1, 2025, with the exception of variable refrigerant flow (VRF) equipment, whose deadline would be Jan. 1, 2026.

Power management company Eaton has released its new BRX miniature circuit breaker. The product aims to will provide design freedom by reducing costs and making installation easier. By implementing the BRX miniature circuit breaker, there is no need for specified upstream breakers, and this allows contractors to use less expensive service modules. Fully rated at 65,000 amperes interrupting capacity (kAIC), Eaton officials claim its 1-in style, two-pole breaker is a market leader for interrupting ratings in a standard-size miniature breaker package.
FS-Elliott Co. recently launched their Polaris+ series. Building on the design of FS-Elliott’s original industrial compressors, the Polaris+ line incorporates several new product advancements aimed to increase reliability and efficiency while maintaining low cost of ownership. The new Polaris+ series consists of five models with flows ranging from 900 to 11,500 icfm, 250 to 3000 hp, and pressures up to 150 psig.
