Eddie Ortiz joined P2S as a design engineer for various educational facility projects. His area of knowledge and responsibilities entail energy modeling for performance optimization, infrastructure design, cost estimating for infrastructure projects, and life-cycle analysis. He is also familiar with Title 24 documentation and has assisted in clean room and space projects.
Leaning on experience and data from various K-12 cities and projects, the authors pursue some less conventional design approaches. They may revolve around radiant heating and/or cooling, but depending on school size and other factors, the smart use of heat recovery, DOAS, and improved central plants could also put a project on the HVAC honor roll.
