Taco Comfort Solutions’ 0018e high-efficiency circulator now features Bluetooth communication to a mobile app, providing real time control, diagnostics and reporting, such as installation history, power consumption, performance, and runtime. Installers can select between multiple constant speed, proportional pressure, and constant pressure modes as well as activeADAPT™, Taco’s self-adjusting proportional pressure mode.
Fujitsu General America has introduced new medium static pressure duct indoor units for their single-zone Halcyon mini-split line. This new RGLX line features sufficient static pressure to heat or cool a whole house. Units are available in seven sizes ranging from 12,000 to 48,000 Btuh, with efficiency ratings up to 21.3 SEER.
The new TYCO DV-5A deluge valve from Johnson Controls offers improvements on the DV-5 valve while keeping the original key features. The company says DV-5A deluge valve has a higher pressure rating of up to 300 psi and lower pressure drop, allowing water to travel further at specified system pressure.
The YORK® brand of Johnson Controls has released two new commercial units — the 6.5- to 12.5-ton Predator™ series and 15- to 23-ton Large Sunline™ series. With efficiencies reaching as high as 21 IEER, these products comply with requirements set by the United States Department of Energy (DoE), ASHRAE 90.1-2013, 2015 International Energy Conservation Code, and the Consortium for Energy Efficiency’s Advanced Tier*.
The COOL-FIT® ABS Plus Piping System from GF Piping Systems is a fully pre-insulated plastic piping system for secondary cooling and refrigeration. According to the company, the system features energy-efficient, non-corroding, maintenance-free performance. These features make it ideally suited for food production, process cooling, cold storage, beverage production, supermarkets, dairies, air conditioning, and other applications.
Alea has unveiled its intelligent air management platform called Alea Air. The company said Alea Air transforms basic HVAC systems by replacing standard registers with smart vents that track and adjust temperature, monitor air quality, and sense other environmental variables. The Alea Air platform uses machine learning and predictive analytics to allocate air based on users’ room-by-room temperature preferences.
Sensaphone® has added two new sensors to its line of remote monitoring equipment for HVAC applications. The Sensaphone Duct Mount Air Flow Transmitter measures the rate of airflow and alerts users when conditions fall outside of the preset threshold. The transmitter monitors the presence or absence of cool moving air and measures relative airflow from 0-16 meters per second.
Sensor Evaluation Honeywell announced a new method for customers to test the capabilities of its sensors, which the company says allows for faster and more efficient component decisions and a speedier product development process. With the new sensor evaluation kits, engineers can perform a thorough evaluation of Honeywell’s TruStability™ pressure sensor series without needing to develop additional software code or spin a new printed circuit board. The kits aim for easier demonstrating and evaluating Honeywell’s TruStability RSC series as well as the digital output versions of the HSC series and SSC series board mount pressure sensors.
Engineered Systems magazine’s June 2019 issue examines the role of HVAC systems and power in colleges and universities via the decentralization of a Missouri college’s central boiler plant, an examination of ventilation considerations in Group R-2 facilities, the steps engineers should consider when overcoming unanticipated boiler room setbacks, common calculations and considerations regarding NFPA 92, and much more.
