AERCO International Inc. welcomed Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D-NY-17) on July 21 to see firsthand the production of U.S. Navy aircraft carriers and amphibious warships. AERCO is a Blauvelt, NY-based manufacturer of high-efficiency water heaters and boilers for a wide array of applications including government, multi-family housing, hotels, universities, and more. The company currently employs 11 veterans, and is expanding staffing requirements to meet increased demand for its energy efficient products

AERCO's CFO Gary Schlegel provided an overview of the company to Congresswoman Lowey, which included a long history of developing solutions to win both government and private sector business. He was joined by AERCO Vice President of Operations Tony Laraia for a tour AERCO's manufacturing facility, which is partly supported by federal defense spending.

During her tour, the Congresswoman met with AERCO's employees to discuss their skills required for manufacturing precision, high quality water heating systems for both military and commercial sector customers.

"AERCO is a great example of how hard-earned taxpayer dollars are supporting business right here in Rockland, and throughout the rest of the Lower Hudson Valley," said Lowey. "AERCO's talented employees there are dedicated to manufacturing products that help keep our country secure and our local economy strong. As the Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee, I have fought for additional investments in key initiatives that help businesses like AERCO, and I will continue to make sure government is working for our area's economy."

"It was an honor to host Congresswoman Lowey at our facility today and share the importance of U.S. Navy shipbuilding programs to our economy," said Schlegel. "Our company is very proud of our role in providing innovative water heating solutions that deliver superior efficiency and uptime reliability for Army and Navy projects throughout the globe that are vital to our national security. We look forward to Congresswoman Lowey's continued support for funding Navy carriers and amphibious warship programs that enhance our nation's defense capabilities at sea, while delivering economic security and job creation at home.
