I have had the opportunity with just about every HVAC application, including but not limited to mega-warehouses, sewer treatment plants, K-12 schools, hospitals, industrial facilities, etc., and the one application that I always find odd to be involved with is the pharmaceutical application. I find that a large minority of professionals in this specific industry think their little world of mechanical systems is unique within the HVAC industry, and so I thought I’d share with you my thoughts on this assumed specialty business.
To begin, to breakdown the parts associated with any HVAC application, one needs only to open the 2012 ASHRAE Handbook – HVAC Systems and Equipment, Chapter 1, “HVAC System Analysis and Selection” to read and learn about all the considerations that go into designing an HVAC system. No matter what type of application a building owner is investing in, this is the industry standard procedure for selecting the optimum HVAC system.
