The HCU water cooled heat pump extracts heat from the air and rejects it into a water loop through a coaxial heat exchanger. This heat can be recovered to generate hot water for general purposes or rejected out of a building via a cooling tower. In the heating mode, the HCU reverses the cycle, extracting heat from the water loop through the heat exchanger using a common air coil to heat the building space.
