Those who need the most up-to-date information about air conditioning and refrigeration equipment performance requirements should know that the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) has released a new equipment performance standard: “ARI Standard 260-2001: Sound Rating of Ducted Air Moving and Conditioning Equipment.”

ARI standards establish rating criteria and procedures for measuring and certifying product performance. In this way, products are rated on a uniform basis so that buyers and users can properly make selections for specific applications.

Standard 260-2001, along with 20 others, is available for free download on ARI’s website at www.ari.org. By adding free standards on the Internet, ARI manufacturers want to make it easy for architects and engineers to make choices based on easily-accessed testing and rating information.
