The BACnet Testing Laboratory (BTL) (Boston) recently completed the initial phase of BACnet interoperability testing. Application-specific controllers, smart sensors, and smart actuators made by Alerton Technologies, Automated Logic, Delta Controls and Teletrol passed the tests and will be listed on the BACnet Manufacturers’ Association (BMA) website. Listing means the products passed an extensive suite of tests designed to check compliance with the ASHRAE/ANSI BACnet specifications and interoperability with other BACnet products. Preparations are already underway to test more BACnet products later in the year.
BACnet (Building Automation Control Network) is an ASHRAE and ANSI standard protocol for achieving interoperability in building systems. Non-proprietary interoperability provides flexibility for the design and configuration of systems and promotes competitive bidding. BACnet is ideal for use with medium to large-sized systems in multi-building sites to implement integration with central plant equipment, and for integration between different building systems. BACnet was developed by ASHRAE with the cooperation of almost every major manufacturer of building automation and control equipment.
