A Fellow of ASHRAE has been appointed to a National Academy of Sciences panel on countering terrorism. Lawrence Spielvogel, P.E., a consulting engineer in King of Prussia, PA, will serve on the "Science and Technology for Countering Terrorism: Panel on Energy Facilities, Cities and Fixed Infrastructure." He is the only
heating, ventilating and air-conditioning engineer on the panel.
The panel is one of several panels operating under the Academy's
Committee on Science and Technology for Countering Terrorism. Panelists will
identify current concepts and opportunities for research that will reduce
the nation's vulnerability to terrorism directed at energy facilities,
buildings and other essential, fixed infrastructure elements. A report from
the panel will be issued in fall 2002.
