American Standard Companies Inc. announced that it will donate $250,000 to relief organizations working to support families of the September 11 terrorist attack victims. The company will divide its $250,000 outright contribution between three groups -- the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army and the September 11th Fund managed by various United Way agencies to aid victims of the attacks in New York and Washington.

The company also announced that it would match employee contributions to these relief organizations up to $250,000, creating an additional potential donation of $500,000.

"The horrifying events of September 11 have united people all over the world," said Frederic Poses, chairman and CEO. "And that's true of American Standard people globally. Our employees have expressed a desire to help the victims' families. To unite the efforts of our 61,000 people, we have set up a matching gift program through our company foundation to direct their donations to various relief organizations."
