In the historic Back Bay section of Boston stands a combined five-story and four-story structure consisting of what were at one time two separate buildings. Built in the late 1800s as residence to some of Boston's elite, it has been considered "home-away-from-home" since 1910 to the constituents of a women's private social club, known as the Chilton Club. Named after Mary Chilton, who is thought to have been the first woman to set foot onto New England soil from the Mayflower, the Chilton Club has provided a retreat for some of New England's most renowned women of culture.
This is an account of how Sebesta Blomberg & McKew, Inc. (SB&M, Topsfield, MA) worked with their equipment manufacturer and trade contractor partners to preserve the historical value of this establishment, all while introducing it to some of the comforts (and necessities) of the present. The key was keeping the focus on providing technical solutions while remaining sensitive to the final desires of the client - or in this case, nearly 1,000 clients. Faced with this task, the firm introduced their single source solution: a Program Management Process (PMP).
