"A large majority of ammonia compressors are used for industrial refrigeration, but there are also industrial air conditioning applications such as district cooling plants, university and hospital complexes that have used ammonia for air conditioning," said Ed Schinner, chairman of the section. "By changing our scope, the section is assuring that it is fully covering the broad use of the products in support of ARI's interests."

ARI's Ammonia Refrigeration Compressor Units Product Section is one of the newest ARI sections, joining ARI in late 2002. The section oversees development of ARI Standard 510-93, Ammonia Compressor Units, which applies to positive displacement ammonia compressor units for use in commercial and industrial refrigeration applications.
