Detailed information on the envelope, lighting and mechanical sections of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning's (ASHRAE) energy conservation standard will be presented in a satellite broadcast on Oct. 30, 2001.

ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1-1999, Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings, provides minimum requirements for The energy-efficient design of buildings. The broadcast, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Building Standards and Guidelines Program, will be held at noon (Eastern) on Oct. 30. It is co-sponsored by ASHRAE and the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America.

The broadcast is being held to build on the basic information presented in the first broadcast, create interest in adoption of the standard by code writing bodies and the U.S. DOE, and create awareness about the 2001 standard to be published later this year, according to Coad.
