The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) is recognizing the American Society of Mechanical Engineers’s expertise in technology issues. The ASME was asked to provide a fellow with broad knowledge of nuclear reactor safety, pipeline safety and other vulnerable energy assets to assist with OSTP's homeland security/antiterrorism efforts. OSTP is currently reviewing a list of fellow candidates provided by ASME.
This fellow will work directly with the director of OSTP and coordinate OSTP activities with the recently created Office of Homeland Security. The fellowship, which is expected to start as early as this month, is one of two ASME fellowships at OSTP. ASME will also place three fellows in the U.S. Congress.
