ASHRAEannounced the winners of its 2005 Student Design Project Competition, which focused on The Brewery Blocks, a mixed use retail, residential and office grouping of five buildings in Portland's Pearl District. Winners were announced in three categories - HVAC system selection, refrigeration system design and architectural design. First place in the architectural category was awarded to Don Guith and Scott Poloney of Lawrence Technological University, Southfield, MI. First place in the refrigeration system design category was awarded to Thammarat Wittayakerkkrai, Chaiwat Puttanuntadech and Kittipong Sookochai of Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. First place in the HVAC system selection category was awarded to Jesse Fisher and Amy Pastor of Penn State University, University Park, PA.
