International Code Council
October 30, 2001
The chief executive officers of the International Code Council's statutory members-Building Officials Code Administrators (BOCA), International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO), and Southern Building Code Congress International (SBCCI)-announced an agreement to merge the certification examinations of each organization into a single, coordinated set of national certification examinations for code officials and inspectors. Each of the jointly-sponsored certification examinations will be developed through a representative consensus process overseen by committees appointed from the private and public sectors who are experienced in each discipline. The examinations will comply with national testing and legal standards, including guidelines which are promulgated by the ICC Board for International Professional Standards.
