Armstrong Fluid Technology has announced the introduction of its E.2 Pump-Less Volute (PLV) kit which is designed to upgrade, renew, or replace all working parts of all models in the E Series family of circulators. The kits are suitable for both hydronic fluid and potable water applications and include all the new features that were introduced with the second generation of the E Series.
Armstrong Fluid Technology has expanded its Astro wet-rotor circulator offering with the introduction of the Astro 2 Series. Featuring four new sizes, the company says its Astro 2 Series now offers flange-to-flange and bolt-to-bolt compatibility with 100% of competing models in terms of performance.
Armstrong Fluid Technology has introduced the Maintenance-Free (MF) versions of its S&H Circulator line and the Seal Bearing Assemblies (SBA) used to service them. The traditional sleeve bearing designs that are commonly used in this style of circulator require periodic oiling.
Leaning on experience and data from various K-12 cities and projects, the author pursues some less conventional design approaches. They may revolve around radiant heating and/or cooling, but depending on school size and other factors, the smart use of heat recovery, DOAS, and improved central plants could also put a project on the HVAC honor roll.
