Greenheck’s new Grease Trapper Pollution Control Unit removes grease, smoke, and odors from kitchen exhaust. According to the company, it is the only pollution control unit in the industry that has been tested and listed to the UL-1978 standard for factory-built grease ducts.
Greenheck’s new Energy Recovery Filter System incorporates energy recovery technology into kitchen exhaust hoods. The system captures the waste heat produced by the cooking appliances that would otherwise be exhausted from a kitchen hood and uses it to preheat a portion of the incoming water supply that is directed into the patented energy recovery filters.
Leaning on experience and data from various K-12 cities and projects, the author pursues some less conventional design approaches. They may revolve around radiant heating and/or cooling, but depending on school size and other factors, the smart use of heat recovery, DOAS, and improved central plants could also put a project on the HVAC honor roll.
