Starting with a brief look at the demands ASHRAE mandates for commercial buildings, we will examine the design options available to meet the outside air requirements of a facility. We will focus on the conventional straight cooling approach versus the option to pre-treat outside air with an energy recovery devise. We will examine how the use of an ERV is a cost effective way to overcome the demands placed on a system when increasing outside air quantities.
