K-12 School month rages on here atEngineered Systems HQ, and this week, I wanted to share with you some projects being tackled or recently completed in this burgeoning market.

  • The Wathena Unified School District 406 (USD 406) in Wathena, Kan., is implementing $537,913 in facility enhancements designed to improve operations, comfort, and efficiency in the district’s 100,400 sq-ft school facility. The Energy Solutions division of TAC will complete the work as a performance contract with the district. TAC guarantees that USD 406 will reduce its utility costs by more than $29,000 annually when the project is completed in February 2009.
  • The Choctaw County School District (CCSD) in Ackerman, Miss., is implementing facility enhancements designed to improve operations, comfort, and efficiency at its four campuses totaling more than 335,000 sq ft. TAC, the Building Automation Business Unit of Schneider Electric, will complete the work as a performance contract with the district. TAC guarantees that CCSD will reduce its utility costs by almost $59,000 annually when the project is completed in April 2009.
  • Moore County Schools (MCS) in Lynchburg, Tenn., is implementing $244,266 in facility enhancements designed to improve operations, comfort and efficiency at the Moore County High School/Middle School facility. The Energy Solutions division of TAC, a world leader in energy services, building automation and security, will complete the work as a performance contract with the school system. TAC guarantees that MCS will reduce their utility costs by $33,000 annually when the project is completed in February 2009.
  • Shasta Union High School District in California has undergone a $27 million dollar, district-wide modernization over the past five years. Due to the project’s magnitude, school administrators were not interested in a quick fix. Rather, they were committed to making sure that the improvements produced long-term cost savings and performance advantages. Now that the project is complete, the district is reaping tangible benefits, including fuel savings of more than 50%, achieved in part by the installation of nine AERCO boilers in five school buildings.
  • Fabric ductwork from DuctSox in tandem with separate energy recovery outdoor air dehumidifiers were used in the Florence Independent School District’s (Florence, TX) new $2.4 million gymnasium to cut HVAC energy costs by 50% and to increase aesthetics and IAQ.
