CT/Colt’s Coltlite, a natural louvered ventilator that is installed in the façade of a building, is now available in North America. This dual-purpose product provides buildings with both day-to-day ventilation and smoke control to aid building evacuation in the event of a fire.
Marketair Inc. has introduced RoughinBox™, a plastic terminal box designed for expediting the rough-in of linesets, condensate hoses, and electrical/communication cabling for wall-mounted minisplit and VRF evaporator installation. According to the company, the RoughinBox reduces rough-in time by creating a central point with dedicated ports at which linesets, condensate hoses, and electrical/communication cabling can safely and easily terminate.
Johnson Controls announced the launch of its York YK-EP “Efficiency Plus” water-cooled centrifugal chiller which achieves 5% capacity and efficiency improvements over the previous model. The YK-EP “Efficiency Plus” chiller is ideal for large capacity applications including district cooling, large central plants, and gas-turbine inlet-air cooling.
Onicon has released a new small pipe configuration of its F-3500 flow meter which extends the low-end of the allowable nominal pipe size range from 3 in to 1.25 in. The company says the small pipe configuration of the F-3500 remains easy to insert and remove without a system shutdown via the unique hot tap design.
Howden American Fan Company has introduced its new ventilation concept for underground parking garages, which includes two alternative options — the Jet Thrust Fan and the Induction Thrust Fan. The company says the new system lowers the required parking garage height by about 4 ft, reducing excavation and cement costs and lowering overall construction costs.
Automated Logic Corporation has made enhancements to its flagship product, the WebCTRL® building automation system. The web-based building automation platform now features optimized trend reporting, new visualization tools, mobile support capability, and Open Automated Demand Response (ADR) to further help manage building energy conservation measures, identify key operational problems, and analyze the end results.
Marley Engineered Products introduced its Artisan SmartSeries® Architectural Digital Wall Heater. The new wall heater automatically adjusts wattage output and blower speed resulting in quiet operation and energy efficiencies. The unit features 5 day/2 day programmability with four daily program periods to respond to a variety of environment needs.
SPX Cooling Technologies has announced additions to the Cube™ Evaporative Condenser product line. An ideal option for industrial refrigeration applications that require safe design, installation, and operation with ammonia and other refrigerants, Cube Evaporative Condensers are available in both forced draft/blow through (BTC) and induced draft/draw through (DTC) models. New DTC models are now available in 8.5-ft nominal widths.
The Sensaphone® Airflow Sensor measures the rate of airflow and alerts data center managers when conditions fall outside the ideal range. The sensor monitors the presence or absence of cool moving air and provides relative airflow as a percentage from 0 to 100.
Many engineers tend to avoid or delegate the nitty gritty of a ground source heat pump system, from soil moisture effects to building system (im) balance. It's time for designers to get in the loop.
