Danfoss has unveiled its new VLT® DriveMotor FCM106/FCP106. The VLT® FCM106 is a 0.55 to 7.5 kW drive mounted as a factory package on either an induction or permanent magnet motor. The VLT® FCP106 utilizes the same 4X drive, and, when purchased with an adaptor plate, can be mounted on the customers’ choice motor. A wall mount kit allows the drive to be mounted separate from the motor if needed.
Mitsubishi Electric US, Inc. has developed the new CITY MULTI® L-Generation water source condensing systems. Combining the efficiency of water source with VRF, the company claims the next-generation W-Series systems offer enhanced efficiency ratings across all categories. The systems feature single modules up to 20 tons, with the ability to combine single modules for systems up to 30 tons. W-Series systems can also be integrated into specialized water-side designs, such as geothermal or existing closed water loops.
Titus has introduced the new FlowBar architectural linear diffuser system. Officials claim the diffuser has been designed to maximize engineering performance without sacrificing aesthetic considerations for the designer. The company also says FlowBar’s performance allows higher airflows than conventional linear diffusers.
DuctSox has introduced the SkeleCore™ FTS Jumbo Series that offers 50- to 84-in diameters. The Jumbo Series is an ideal fabric duct solution for large airflow distribution requirements in high-ceiling or high bay spaces such as athletic stadiums, convention halls, aircraft hangers, industrial buildings, and other applications.
The Remote Lamp Mount (RLM) Small Systems (S/S) ultraviolet (UV-C) lamp fixture kit from UV Resources is designed to deliver ultraviolet energy to destroy coil/drain pan microbial infestations and disinfect moving air streams in hard-to-service fan coil units, PTAC units, and heat pump systems. According to company officials, by inactivating these microbes, the UV small systems kit helps prevent coil inefficiencies, drain pan overflow, and foul odors.
Weil-McLain® is now offering an enhanced line of its SlimFit™ high-efficiency condensing gas boilers. The company says new features include improved boiler-to-boiler communication, Modbus® and BACnet® for linking with BAS, express set up wizard, 10 preset typical heating systems, and updated controls interface for simpler navigation, at-a-glance boiler status, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
RectorSeal® Corp. has added Big Foot® Stands to its Big Foot® Systems product line of HVAC equipment mounts. Big Foot Stands support all brands/models of ductless minisplit system (DMSS) and variable refrigerant flow/volume (VRF/VRV) condenser units.
Daikin North America LLC has launched its VRV IV-S-series heat pump, which the company is calling the next generation of “Mini-VRV” for residential and light commercial applications. The product is planned for sales availability in May 2016. The new VRV IV-S-series is a single-phase, air cooled, outdoor unit that operates up to 10 indoor units and accommodates extensive piping networks up to 984 ft.
Many engineers tend to avoid or delegate the nitty gritty of a ground source heat pump system, from soil moisture effects to building system (im) balance. It's time for designers to get in the loop.
