ASHRAE recognizes outstanding achievement with awards, Fellows

AHRI publishes standard for VFDs

The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) has published an industry-first standard for VFDs. As with all AHRI Standards, 1210 (I-P)-2011 and 1211 (SI)-2011, Performance Rating of Variable Frequency Drives, are available free of charge on AHRI's website.

ASHRAE creates five categories for liquid-cooled datacom environments

“2011 Thermal Guidelines for Liquid Cooled Data Processing Environments” creates data center classes for liquid cooling that can enable fulltime economizers for a number of applications in many climates, according to according to Don Beaty, chair of the Publications Subcommittee of ASHRAE’s Technical Committee (TC) 9.9, Mission Critical Facilities, Technology Spaces and Electronic Equipment.

2012 AHR Expo sets record for exhibit space

November 9, 2011
Over 1,700 companies have reserved more than 414,500 sq ft of exhibit space for the 2012 AHR Expo in Chicago January 23-25, making it the largest HVACR exposition of all-time. With several weeks remaining before the Show opens at McCormick Place, the 2012 event has already surpassed the previous all-time record of 410,415 sq ft set at the 2006 exposition in Chicago.

AHRI releases August HVAC equipment shipping data

U.S. shipments of residential gas storage water heaters for August 2011 decreased 8%, to 284,536 units, down from 308,646 units shipped in August 2010. Residential electric storage water heater shipments decreased 5% in August 2011, to 284,574 units, down from 299,048 units shipped in August 2010.
