LonMark® International and LonMark Americasannounced they will host a one-day educational track on March 22, atBuilConn 2005, the integrated and intelligent building community's event being held in Dallas, March 21-24, 2005.

The LonWorks@BuilConn track will introduce people to the LonMark Open Systems model introduced by LonMark International last year. Most people are familiar with the LonWorks platform, a widely adopted technology commonly used to automate systems used in commercial buildings. The LonMark Open Systems model extends the LonWorks platform into a standards based architecture. The LonMark model builds on the solid foundation of LonMark certified devices and controllers, the core element of open, interoperable systems.

"BuilConn is a great event to communicate our value proposition to the industry," Barry Haaser, executive director of LonMark International, said. "People attending this track will hear about the key trends driving open systems and learn how to make open systems a common element of your business, whether you are an enduser, contractor, specifier, or supplier. We will break-down the key elements of the system, discuss implementation strategies, explain how to write an open system specification, inform contractors how to get into the integration business, and then we will address implementation and IP connectivity."

"LonWorks is a critical component of the open systems issue," Anto Budiardjo, BuilConn organizer, said. "One of the primary goals of BuilConn is to provide our attendees education on all aspects of the intelligent and integrated buildings industry, of which LonMark open systems play an integral role."
