As part of its focus on sustainability,ASHRAEis offering a course at the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo on achieving Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification with ASHRAE Standard 90.1.

The Greenbuild International Conference and Expo, sponsored by the United States Green Building Council, features an exposition, workshops, and educational programming. It will be held November 9-11, 2005 in Atlanta.

The ASHRAE course, "Learning How to Use ASHRAE Standard 90.1-2004 for Attaining Energy Points for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification," will be held from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Nov. 7. The cost is $295. To register, visit www.greenbuildingexpo.org.

Since the standard serves as the technical basis for energy points within LEED, the course focuses on 2004 standard compliance as it applies to achieving LEED certification.

The course includes an overview of how to develop a base building description and how to use LEED-intended rules in the standard's new Appendix g for substantial energy savings.

The instructors are Joseph Deringer, AIA, and McHenry "Mack" Wallace Jr. P.E., members of the 90.1 committee.
