“Fundamental Understanding of Heat and Mass Transfer in the Ammonia/Water Absorber" and "Thermoelectric Technology Assessment" now available.

The Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology Institute (ARTI) recently released two new reports, “Fundamental Understanding of Heat and Mass Transfer in the Ammonia/Water Absorber," which concerns the development of a model to help HVACR manufacturers design more efficient and economical heat-driven absorption systems, and "Thermoelectric Technology Assessment," which examines state-of-the-art thermoelectric cooling.

The report finds that although thermoelectric cooling is viable for electronics cooling, portable coolers and other small-scale cooling and refrigerant applications, enhanced materials still need to be developed to realistically use thermoelectric technology in large-scale air conditioning and refrigeration systems to achieve comparable energy efficiencies.
