Trane is introducing a newly redesigned family of configurable terminal products. The company says it is a complete offering that delivers improved efficiency, ease of installation, acoustics, and temperature control. The new Trane® terminal products are designed to improve efficiency by up to 66% over units using permanent split capacitor motors, and feature a factory commissioned single-zone variable air volume solution. Trane single-zone VAV systems combine electronically commutated motors and factory programmed variable speed controllers that adjust the speed of the unit’s motor and its air volume to meet load requirements in various spaces of a building.

Because it precisely matches load requirements, the motor’s variable speed technology is ideal in partial load conditions. The unit’s Tracer™ UC400 unit controller features control algorithms that are programmed, mounted, wired, and tested at the factory. The control algorithms maximize performance on Trane terminal products, using only the energy necessary to achieve fan speeds that meet a space’s heating and cooling needs.

In addition to infinitely variable fan speeds, the VelociTach™ motor control board enables real-time performance monitoring to enhance serviceability, ensures optimal performance for the life of the equipment, and reduces the time required for installation and startup.
