The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute has introduced a new certification program for unit coolers, which are typically used in refrigerated warehouses. This is AHRI’s 39th certification program.

The equipment in the Unit Coolers Certification Program is rated and tested in accordance with AHRI Standard 420, Performance Rating of Forced-Circulation Free-Delivery Unit Coolers for Refrigeration. Unit coolers are factory-made, and include means for forced air circulation and elements by which heat is transferred from air to refrigerant without any air resistance from external elements. The certified ratings for the unit coolers program include cooling capacity and rated fan power.

“As with all products in our certification program, AHRI certified unit coolers provide the assurance that manufacturers’ performance ratings for the equipment have been independently verified,” said Bill Tritsis, AHRI vice president of certification.
