The Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) is adding a new online course. "Design-Build Sustainability" assumes the student has a basic knowledge of the various project delivery methods and preferably has taken the Fundamentals of Project Delivery course offered by DBIA.

At the end of this course the attendee will have acquired an understanding of key aspects of success such as the relationship between sustainable design and design-build and the ability to put the right team together to avoid contractual risk. DBIA reports that this course teaches what research already has already demonstrated: Through successful collaboration, integrated design-build project delivery gives teams an edge in achieving LEED certification.

“These new online learning courses are a welcomed complement to our overall education program, which also encompasses in-house training, workshops and boot-camps,” said Valexia Hall, DBIA’s managing director of education and logistics.

Design-Build Sustainability is a two-hour course that provides two elective credit hours. The course is also approved for AIA continuing education credit. Additional details can be found in the online learning section of the DBIA web site at www.dbia.org/development/Online+Learning.
