Lennox’ Energence® rooftop unit increases industry-leading efficiency with two new factory-installed upgrades.
Lennox’ Energence® light commercial rooftop unit, with ratings up to 18 SEER, has recently expanded its top-performing energy savings with two new options. The MSAV®, or multi-stage air volume, supply fan and the SunSource® Commercial Energy System offer customers an opportunity to further increase system efficiency to realize greater utility savings.
The Energence 3- to 50-ton rooftop unit product line combines ultra-efficient performance with the intelligent Prodigy® control system to achieve a low total cost of ownership. Designed to help buildings qualify for LEED® points, the ENERGY STAR® qualified Energence rooftop unit features ratings from up to 18 SEER, 12.8 EER and 14.5 IPLV. The unit also exceeds ASHRAE 90.1-2010 minimum standards by more than 35%, helping buildings meet green building requirements while delivering measurable energy savings.
Lennox’ newest energy-saving feature, MSAV supply fan technology, is now available as a factory-installed option on 7.5- to 25-ton Energence rooftop units. It helps reduce energy usage while still meeting comfort requirements. Using a variable frequency drive, this option allows the unit to lower the airflow during part-load cooling, heating, ventilation and free cooling operation modes to dramatically reduce energy costs. Preset at the factory, this option allows for quick and easy start up of the unit. It also offers users the flexibility to customize airflow settings by making simple changes in the unit’s intelligent Prodigy® unit controller. This option not only saves money, it also allows users to help meet ASHRAE 90.1-2010 and California Title 24 requirements for single-zone VAV systems.
SunSource® Commercial Energy System
The SunSource® Commercial Energy System, available as a factory-installed option since February 2011, is the first and only HVAC system that integrates directly with solar power. The SunSource system combines with a solar-ready Energence 3-to 6-ton rooftop unit to provide effective efficiency levels of 34 SEER** and beyond. When as few as one or as many as 21 solar modules are added, it allows the unit to capture the sun’s free, clean energy and use it for heating, cooling or general building loads, while helping to reduce the overall carbon footprint. With the ability to measurably increase energy efficiency, the SunSource system offers customers the opportunity to achieve significant utility savings, and even help buildings achieve a net-zero status. Finally, the system is simple to install and safer than traditional solar systems, and has the option for a communication module that offers real-time monitoring of system status, energy production and environmental benefits.
Prodigy® Control System
Lennox’ Prodigy® control system, standard on all Energence rooftop units, makes system setup, troubleshooting and servicing easier than ever. It provides intelligent verification that the unit has been correctly setup and configured, reducing service time on the job. The Prodigy unit controller component tracks the runtime of every major unit component, recording the date and time when service or maintenance is performed. By intelligently operating the rooftop unit to help ensure reliability, maximum energy savings and comfort, the Prodigy unit controller works intelligently to increase the efficiency of maintenance and service calls, helping to avoid downtime. Optional Prodigy BACnet and LonTalk® open protocols are available for easy integration with other devices.
