The company's MakeupAire desiccant dehumidification system combines desiccant technology with energy recovery technology, all designed to provide the increased amounts of ventilation air recommended by ASHRAE Standard 62-89. The desiccant is designed to absorb moisture. As the wheel rotates into the opposing dry air stream, the moisture is carried off the wheel. The desiccant can be dried either by electric steam or by a gas burner. According to the company, a typical application finds up to 10,000 cfm of makeup processed through the desiccant wheel where most of the dehumidification takes place before moving through the heat pipe, which is used for energy recovery.
