The Q-Series dehumidifier is designed to satisfy the IAQ specifications of ASHRAE 62 while providing extensive energy savings with the use of an optional enthalpy wheel, according to the manufacturer. In the winter, when the enthalpy wheel is installed on a Q-Series dehumidifier, it captures the heat of winter exhaust air and transfers it back into intake air. Likewise, the same wheel reverses this process in the summer to eliminate heat from hot intake air and deposit it into the exhaust air. The enthalpy wheel is also coated with a special desiccant, which captures moisture from humid air. The result, according to the company, is that the dehumidifier runs less and thus provides greater year-round operational savings.
