Earth Sciences Inc.(Littleton, CO) andNORIT Americas(Atlanta) have entered into a market development agreement to jointly pursue the market for equipment and sorbents to remove mercury from coal-fired boilers. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced its plans to regulate mercury emissions from the nation's coal-fired power plants.

DOE-published reports estimate that, once the regulations are fully implemented, this will become a $2-5 billion per year market. This alliance puts together Earth Sciences, whose wholly-owned subsidiary ADA-ES is performing the first full-scale power plant tests of mercury control using powdered activated carbon (PAC), with NORIT the country's leading supplier of PAC.
