Sessions on deregulation of the power industry, indoor air quality, and energy efficiency of buildings are included in the technical program for the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) 2000 Winter Meeting, scheduled for February 5-9 in Dallas. Numerous sessions on ventilation, hvacr systems and applications, new developments on ASHRAE standards, and other topics round out the 12-track program.

The “Deregulation for Dummies” seminar examines how the easing of regulatory controls could affect systems users and manufacturers, real-time pricing, and thermal storage. Elsewhere, strategies for controlling environmental tobacco smoke in bars, restaurants, and lounges in atria are presented in programs from the ventilation and IAQ tracks.

Innovative methods for designing and commissioning hospitals, displacement ventilation in industrial buildings, market requirements for filter test methods, and ventilation and IAQ performance of small buildings are also discussed in other presentations.

The technical program is comprised of 50 seminars, 14 symposia, 30 open-discussion forums, two technical sessions, a poster session, and a public session titled “E-HVAC&R: The HVAC&R Industry Embraces E-Commerce.” A total of 96 papers will be presented.
